The RTÉ Player App uses streaming technology which means that you must be connected to the Internet in order to watch programmes. You can save programmes as a favourite and pick up on a programme where you last viewed. I'm running Recognized Developer Kasperh's Pac-Man and XBMC is running flawlessly and wanted to still share it with our hardcore galaxy tab 10.1 users. You can browse programmes by name, category, date and latest. Recognized Developer kemonine96 managed to get the XBMC media player running on tegra 2 devices. Social sharing features allow you to share programmes. The RTÉ Player App supports AirPlay so you can watch on the big screen using your Smart TV. Search for the title you want to watch in our Find Section. Set your preferences so you can watch shows with an audio description (AD) Set your preferences so you can watch shows with in-vision Irish Sign Language (ISL) Shows across the RTE channels can also be found online via the official on-demand service, RTE Player. Programmes on RTE Two include Hollywood Trials, RTE News on Two, and live sporting coverage.

It's not officially available for the Nvidia Shield (which has its own version of the app), though, and there's no point sideloading it there as it's the same as the version compatible only with Shield devices in terms of functionality. While the app is built for Android TV, it doesn't appear to be available for Xiaomi's Mi Box, or other ATV hardware at present. This BBC help page shows that the new Google streamer is certified for use with iPlayer, although that may only refer to the cast functionality. Thankfully, there's a new version of the app that's compatible with Google's new hardware, just in time for launch. Plays 12 live Irish TV stations (RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4, 3e, be3, RTEjr, RTE1 +1, RTE NEWS NOW, Oireachtas TV, Dail, Seanad) - IETVNOW/main. This means no BBC iPlayer for the new Chromecast with Google TV, since that's just an ATV dongle with a fancy skin. There have been versions specific to certain hardware, such as the one for the Nvidia Shield or those you can get on Sony TVs, but there's still no official generic version that works on any ATV device. Kodi is available for multiple operating-systems and hardware platforms, featuring a 10-foot user interface for use with televisions and remote controls. BBC iPlayer has had a strange relationship with Android TV. Kodi is a free and open source media player application developed by the Kodi Foundation, a non-profit technology consortium.
